Day 20 – Quarantine Bingo

The activity for Day 20 of the Family Connection Experiment is supposed to be to create a family calendar. I think I’ve made one before. But, thanks to Facebook we are now pretty good at remembering the birthdays of our living relatives. Because of that, and because I got really good feedback on yesterday’s post, I am going to continue to chronicle my life during this pandemic. (I won’t be as “deep” as yesterday, though. That wore me out!)

Today’s post is a simple one. It’s also a “cheat post.” Sometimes, you just have to take the easy road…

On April 17, I created a Quarantine Bingo Game and shared it on Facebook. If you’re a “Facebook Friend” you may have seen this already. Sorry. Not sorry. Like I said earlier, I’m tired!! Why am I so tired?

Well, first of all. I’m 65 years old. Apparently I can’t stay up writing blog posts until midnight and then wake up at 8:00 a.m. and expect to function for another 14+ hours.

I FaceTimed with my daughter and grandaughter mid-morning. We were a little concerned because Paisley announced she was TIRED and wanted to rest on the couch. These words had never been uttered by P before (and it looked like she had a little rash) so of course, our thoughts went immediately to the dark place – is it that new illness kids are getting??? (P was fine within the hour. We determined the rash was from smacking herself in the face with a telescope.)

Paisley enjoys “making funny faces” on Messenger!

I had a Zoom meeting with a student from 12:30 – 1:30 and then taught my class (on Zoom, of course!) from 2:00 – 3:00. I sent and received at least 8 emails and texts encouraging my online students to finish their courses by tomorrow’s deadline. (That was a rough situation yesterday – the course platform was offline for more than 12 hours!) I checked and rechecked students’ progress on the platform at least 3 times during the day.

At 4:00. it was time for cheese and crackers while we listened to our governor’s daily report on the status of reopening our state. I used to watch Judge Judy. Guess that ship has sailed.

Made and ate dinner. At 7 p.m., I joined a Zoom call sponsored by DuoLingo – the app I am using to learn German. I’m doing pretty well! Jetzt ich konne Deutsch besser lesen aber ich spreche Deutsch nichts sehr gut. (Now I can read German better but I don’t speak German very well.) I wrote that in German without cheating! The grammar is definitely off but I got my point across. Anyway, I am trying to improve my conversational German, in case I ever get to take that trip to Vienna we had to cancel. Where was I going with this?? Oh, yeah – I’m tired. My brain was getting too full so I logged off after an hour. It was fun though. I’ll do it again.

My phone notified me I was supposed to be attending a webinar at 8 p.m. Whoops, forgot. Logged on to GoToWebinar for a webinar on accessing German Genealogy records. I lasted 5 minutes. Guess I’m German’d out. The webinar will be recorded, so no biggie.

Uh oh! I need to write my blog post. The challenge is 21 days long because that’s how long it takes to develop a new habit. It worked. I wouldn’t be able to sleep if I didn’t write the post.

Hence… the “cheat post.” I created this bingo game at the website Bingo Baker. It’s fun! You can make your own to print or play online with others! Enjoy!
